"DON'T TELL MY HEART...MY ACHY BREAKY HEART!"

I thought I would post an update with my most recent tests results. I had an echo cardiogram this week, and it was all good news. Some of our worst fears of possible diagnosis' were put to rest after the echo. The structure of my heart is working great - so the problem isn't with my heart itself, but in some default of the message getting to my heart. So of all the possible things that it could be, the worse of them are checked off as cleared. At the best, it could be just a crazy thing that happened as a result of the stress and changes of pregnancy. That is what we are hoping for - but time will tell. For now, we just monitor my pulse and see if it will average out, instead of the extreme lows and highs. If not...then we will go for further testing. In the meantime, I do feel like I am gaining my strength a little each day, which is fabulous!

Thank you to all of you for your thoughts, service, and prayers on my behalf. At first I was really struggling with the "attention", but now I realize that perhaps the results may have been different without your prayers. My "heartfelt" :) thanks to each of you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEAR-BEAR

The Big 3 (notice all the holes in the cake - Brayden & Emilie put at least 20 candles in the cake, before I reminded them that he's only 3!)
Mr. Hulk!

Goodnight Birthday Boy (our family has a birthday pillow case that the person of honor gets to use for a whole week!)

Jarins 3rd birthday came at perfect timing for him. After all the fuss over Kamden, and then his mom not feeling great, he has really been pushed aside. So, to have a day that was special just for him right now was wonderful. We actually celebrated it a day early, because that is when we were all able to spend the most time with him (if no one tells him - he'll never know!). We went to Mack Park with Grandma & Grandpa, and some of his cousins. We had lunch and a party. He was so excited, and was all smiles!

Some of the things that I adore about Jarin are:

his laugh

his smile that lights up his whole face

his beautiful blue eyes

he has a great sense of humor, and always follows up with saying, "I'm just kidding"

When he sees something that looks like an adventure, his face lights up, and he exclaims, "That can be fun!"

The way he says his brother and sisters names "Bay-en", and "Em-a-lay"

his willingness to want to do the right thing
his sweet hugs & kissies

the list could go on forever, but for fear of sounding like a bragging mom, I'll stop here.

BEAR LAKE
For our July 24th celebration (Utah holiday), we spent a few hours at Bear Lake. It is one of our favorite places to go in the summer. Everyone had a great time playing, and Kamden and I hung out in the shade of the umbrella - exerting NO energy!

Our sandwich is bigger than our baby!

Good thing for this life jacket that has the part behind his head, and flips him over to his back. It saved Jarins life several times!

When It Rains...it Pours!!!

This has been an interesting week for our family. We had all been looking so forward to Kamdens arrival, so things could get back to normal at our house - famous last words!
As it turns out, "normal" is a word that shouldn't really exist in the dictionary. Who's to say what "normal" is or isn't anyways??? (deep thought for the day).

(All hooked up to heart monitors - fun fun!)

Anyways, within a week after having Kamden, I realized I was still feeling things that I had previously chalked up to just having all my organs squished by a 9 pound baby. Some of those things hadn't gone away (shortness of breath, pressure in my head and chest, my heart beating strange). So off we went to the Doctor who sent me right to the ER to have a million tests run (just in case we had nothing better to do with any extra money we may have been saving). It turns out my heart rate is beating at half the pace it should be, which means more doctors and more tests! In the meantime, we had both a freezer and a fridge go out on us this week (small pennies compared to the Dr. bills!). All of this is the "rain", but what I want to remember, is the "pouring" - the pouring out of blessings that we have had during this last week has far outweighed the rain. There are too many to name them all, but I will list just a few...

The first of those blessings obviously would be our way cute (so I'm a little prejudiced), healthy baby boy. He is doing well, with the exception that he could sleep a bit better at night - but that will come in time (yawn). One of the positive things to me not feeling great is that I get to sit around a lot and just hold my baby. I haven't had the energy to be too busy with everything else. And of course, I can't forget our other three troopers. They are great kids, and have been so helpful to me.

Another great blesssing has been my mom (and my dad for supporting my mom being gone all the time). She has been to our house every day for more than a week. First she came to take care of our kids while we were at the hospital, then she kept coming to take care of me when I have been down. She has cleaned house, taken care of kids, made meals, and been a huge support to us - she is amazing!

Our ward has also been such a blessing to our family - almost embarrassingly so (for someone who doesn't like to accept help). They have brought in meals, treats, helped with kids, and have offered prayers on our behalf. I know there are people in our ward and neighborhood who are in need of these blessings as much and more than us - and they just keep giving! It is very hard for us to accept the kindness of so many. It is so humbling - something we all need to be reminded of once in awhile, but not something that is easy to accept. I guess I was really prideful a year ago, because I have been on the receiving end far too much this past year!

Ira is such a wonderful husband to me and father to our kids. I have had him by my side, especially this week. Honestly, I would rather be the one going through all these things, then to watch someone I love go through it, like he's had to do. He has been a huge support in so many ways. He has so many responsibilities that rest on his shoulders, yet he puts our family first, and the rest seems to fall into place.

Finally...just in case this is getting too serious - a great blessing that I hadn't anticipated is that JARIN LIKES HIS BABY BROTHER!! As you know from my previous posts, that is an unexpected turn of events...and a great blessing! He still acts out for our attention, but he hasn't lashed out on Kam (yet). He loves to hold him, and sing him songs. I think he likes the idea of being the big brother.

HE'S ARRIVED (and finally named)!!!

Our little Kamden Ira Crawford was born yesterday afternoon at about 5:00, after a short 4 hour labor. We came to the hospital with a couple different names for him, and decided on one we had actually decided NOT to use before we came. Funny how things change when you actually see them. He is a WHOPPING 9 lb. 3 oz. and 21 inches long. I knew he was going to be a big baby! He was born bigger than my 2 month old nephew currently weighs.

Grandma has been taking care of our kids - THANK YOU MOM! She brought them to see Kamden today. Jarin was very curious, and actually did better than I thought. He wanted to touch my tummy, his fingers and toes, and told me how "disgusting" his belly button looks. It will be interesting, to say the least, what he thinks when this new little guy comes home with us tomorrow (scary). Yes, I am writing this from the hospital - now that's a dedicated blogger! I have a lot of friends and family who told me they would be checking this for an announcement. So, to save on phone bills - here's the announcement!

I will make this brief, since really, I'd rather be holding my baby right now (that's a good thing, right?) I'll post more later, when things settle down a bit (next year maybe???) :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA

The 4th of July is Iras favorite holiday of the year, and definently top of the list for me as well. This year we went to my sister, Kelli's house in Pocatello for the festivities. The kids played in the water with water balloons, swimming pool etc., the dad's brought the older kids to the golf course to hit a few balls, and my sister and I TRIED (without much success) to take it easy with our pregnant bodies.

When more family arrived, we had a barbecue, and watched the fireworks from their deck - it had to be the best location in all of Pocatello to watch fireworks - it was perfect!

OOOHHHH DEAR!

Ira got the crib set up in anticipation of babies arrival. Next thing we knew, we walked into the room, and Jarin had taken off all his clothes (down to a diaper - because that's what he thinks babies wear, nothing but a diaper). He had climbed into the crib, and was laying under the mobile whimpering as if he were a baby.
OOOHHHH DEAR - we really are in trouble when this baby comes!

When all is said and done...

Now that I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel to have this baby, I thought I would write myself a post of my feelings of being pregnant.

Things I love and will miss...
1. I LOVE feeling baby move inside of me. It is such a priviledge and blessing that I don't think I will ever take for grantid.

2. I love the tenderness of Ira putting his hand on my tummy and/or kissing it, and talking to the baby.

3. I love having the older kids put their hands on my belly, and seeing their expressions when the baby will kick. Brayden thinks it's neat, but a little "alienish". Emilie is more sympathetic, and exclaims, "Ouch!, does that hurt?", everytime she feels him move.

4. I love when Jarins trying to get my attention, he puts both hands on my tummy and starts patting. When I finally look down at him, I can barely see his eyes peeking past my big belly.

5. I have to admit that SOMETIMES (not ALL the time), it is nice to have the excuse to sit back and not over -due things.

6. My sleep!

7. I love the anticipation of another sweet spirit joining our family, and being so excited to get to hold him, and see him, and the preperations of his big arrival.

And the things I won't miss so much...

1. Feeling like BLAH almost ALL the time!

2. Peoples comments about how BIG I am.

3. The 1000 trips to the bathroom every hour.

4. In correlation to number 5 above...it is nice to have an excuse to not HAVE to do so much... BUT it gets really old depending on everyone else for so much!

5. Standing sideways to try to wash the dishes in the sink, cuz I can't reach far enough if I stand forward.

6. Dr. visits

7. My constant ANXIETY of "is everything OK with baby?"

8. My nervousness of the fact that this baby needs to come out sooner or later!

THE EXPERIMENT

Jarin just came to me with a box of brownie mix and said, "Let's make brownies...they make you smart, smart, smart, and big, big, big." I won't argue with the "big, big, big"!, but I do wonder about the "smart, smart, smart." So I put down my cleaning supplies (I'm nesting now :) - FINALLY!), and I helped Jarin make brownies. After making the batter, he began the experiement with licking the spoon, then having the finished product. We're still waiting for the results... So what do you think? - Do brownies make you smart, smart, smart? I don't think I feel any smarter after eating 1/2 the pan all by myself! (of course I'm eating for two, right?!) I will vouch that it is a fact that they make us "big, big, big"!
